Our New Starters Report

We recently reported on the welcome month organized for our 137 new starters. In this article, three participants tell us about their experience and provide an insight into their first few months at Schwarz Dienstleistungen.

One of these new starters is Julia. She is a dual student in the International Tax department and is studying Accounting – Tax and Auditing at DHBW Stuttgart. Aaron, who is on the IT high-school graduate program, started his 4.5-year program by training as an IT specialist for application development. He is currently based in the BC Process Mining department. The third new starter is Lara-Sofie. She is training as a management assistant in office management.

How were your first three months with us?
Julia: My first three months at Schwarz Dienstleistungen were extremely informative and exciting! I was made to feel part of the team right from the word go and made connections quite quickly. Besides the members of my team, I’ve also gotten to know lots of other colleagues as I’ve already had the opportunity to work with various other departments.

Aaron: The first three months were great. The team and my contact partners are simply fantastic. I was given a very warm welcome and was integrated into the team straight away. I learned a lot during the first few weeks alone and there is still so much to discover. And if I have any questions, there is always someone I can ask.

Lara-Sofie: The first few months were really exciting and exceeded my expectations. Besides the great onboarding process, what I appreciate most about my team is their willingness to help. My contact partners and colleagues were extremely considerate and always had time for me.

And how did you find the welcome month?
Julia: The welcome month was a really brilliant experience! It was extremely helpful to be able to meet the other new starters and get an initial insight into the company. It was really varied, too: As well as lots of interesting training sessions, we also had team-building events. My favorite was the day trip to the high ropes course. I also loved that we had the opportunity to get to know our specific departments in the second half of the welcome month, so I could learn about the different tasks and activities involved early on.

Aaron: I also thought the welcome month was great. Everything was really well organized and there were lots of interesting events, like training sessions, to help us find our feet in the company. What really made the month for me was the opportunity to network with the other participants on the high-school graduate program. I also appreciated that we were able to get to know the department and familiarize ourselves with the training workshop. I particularly enjoyed the team-building event at the high ropes course, because we were able to work together to overcome the challenges.

Lara-Sofie: The welcome month was super as it made it really easy to settle into the company. The training sessions and group work allowed me to meet and make friends with other apprentices. I enjoyed the team-building events in particular because they gave me the opportunity to meet the participants on the high-school graduate program and the dual students as well.

What has been your best experience at the company so far?
Julia: I’ve already had lots of really great experiences. The welcome month is one of those, as it was a really brilliant time and I learned a lot. I’ve also made some lovely memories with my colleagues, like the summer festival at the theme park.

Aaron: The best thing for me is that I was a part of the team right from the start. I got to know my colleagues not just on a professional level during onboarding in the department, but also on a personal level, like when we went for a meal at a restaurant to welcome two new colleagues.
Lara-Sofie: My first day on the Bildungscampus: It marked the start of my journey at Schwarz Dienstleistungen. I was welcomed with open arms and had the opportunity to meet all the instructors.

Finally, the three new starters emphasized once again just what a brilliant three months they’ve had. They all found the welcome month extremely helpful as it made it easier for them to find their feet in the company and helped resolve any initial uncertainties they may have had. One aspect that they found particularly positive was the fantastic way they were integrated into their departments and the motivating attitude of their colleagues.
They wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for organizing the events and for the warm welcome they’ve received!
