Job Rotation – For Anyone Looking for a New Challenge

Our “Job Rotation” development program enables our employees to gain an insight into a different division in the Schwarz Group. The program gives employees the opportunity to take up a role in a different area for a set period of time (between 6 and 24 months).

Our colleague Alexander took part in the program for 24 months and learned all about the HR department at Schwarz Dienstleistungen during this time. Alexander has been with the Schwarz Group for 20 years. Before participating in the “Job Rotation” program, he was based in the Audit department at Lidl Deutschland.

Alexander, why did you decide to take part in a job rotation?
I was drawn to the program because it offered the opportunity to develop on both a professional and personal level. The change in perspective also appealed to me – it would allow me to gain an insight into a different division.

What experience did you gain?
The change in role allowed me to gain specific specialist knowledge in a new area in just a few months. I also got to learn about the work carried out in a different division and tackled new areas of responsibility that challenged me in my new operational role. It was really interesting to learn about the different corporate cultures in individual divisions. I was also impressed to see that, irrespective of the division, the motivation and dedication of the teams is unmistakable.

What did I particularly like? I’ve been with the Group since September 2000 and it’s fascinating to see how many different areas there are within the organization, and how far we have come. As ever, I am also impressed by how many interesting, varied, and challenging roles and responsibilities our Group offers

What was the biggest lesson you learned?
You should be open to new things and new challenges: Don’t hesitate, just go for it – who knows where it will lead. 😉

So what’s next for you after these 24 months?
I was offered the opportunity to stay with the HR department at Schwarz Dienstleistungen. I am now a senior manager responsible for occupational health management.
